Kupang, RNC – Komodo Gemoy (Komoy) is an initiative to introduce the Komodo icon with a cute and adorable appearance. The name “Komoy” is derived from the words Komodo Gemoy, where “gemoy” means cute or adorable in everyday language.
The main goal of creating Komoy is to raise awareness and appreciation for the Komodo, as an endemic animal of Indonesia. By presenting the Komodo in a cute form, it is hoped that people, especially children and teenagers, will become more interested and care about the conservation of Komodo, and the moral life values it brings. Furthermore, this icon can be used in various promotional media for tourism and creative products themed around Indonesia.
This initiative was proposed by Fransiscus Go, who formed a team to work on the project, which started this year. The Komoy project is driven in Jakarta. The creation of Komoy involves a lengthy creative process, beginning with in-depth research on the Komodo, character design, and then creating various merchandise such as plush toys, keychains, t-shirts, and stickers.
Additionally, there will be an educational program through short videos and distribution through influencers and communities to expand the reach of the message, aiming to increase awareness about the importance of moral life values in society and Komodo conservation. With this approach, Komoy is expected to become a symbol that is not only attractive and entertaining but also educates the public with moral life values.
